Dean Windass, Is there something else you need to share?

I have noticed Dean Windass has recently gone off page from the teachings of experts in tackling alcohol dependancy and depression along with a number of other things at the Sporting Chance Clinic which he attended, co-founded by recovering alcoholic Tony Adams. Of course, Dean Windass does not need treatment for alcohol does he?

The clinic passes on a number of successful treatments of which a big part is based on the Alcoholics Anonymous 12 Steps. The key to tackling issues of alcohol abuse is complete abstainance.

Dean Windass has recently seen fit to return to controlled drinking and has claimed that he has put his depression behind him.

On March 18th 2012 he told The Sun “I was exorcising demons I didn’t even know existed. But I’m a completely changed man.” before stating “The emotional suffering was unbearable and I’m glad to say in 26 days, I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol.

“In our experience addiction is a dangerous and progressive condition which worsens over time. The consequences of use often get more serious as family and relationships suffer, jobs are lost and mental and physical health deteriorates.”

“There is a determination to moderate and control use as the addiction takes over the person’s life.”

Deano has backtracked just a tad on his desire to stop drinking recently saying “My mind is very clear now. I feel I can socialise again and have a pint with my mates. “I’m not going to go out to get drunk because I’m not depressed”.

But what happened to being “glad to say” you had not touched a drop of alcohol. Especially if that was not the problem?

Maybe give Sporting Chance another chance to really get to the heart of the issue and fix things on a permanent basis so there are no nasty surprises ahead when the hype of all the love shown by fans and collegues finally wears off. Then you will be better qualified to help others in their quest to recover from depression and other issues that are often found linked to depression.

Alcohol and depression make neat bed fellows and it is wise to tackle both if they both are playing a role in any such issues that would make you feel the need to take your own life.

I do not think it is helpful when so many people are still blowing smoke up your arse, they should be shoving a rocket up it when they see you drinking alcohol. You might not like it Deano, but I can assure you those people who would do the latter are probably better friends to you to those doing the former.

You have got the mental strength to sort these issues out properly. But now is the time to strike while the opportunity is still here rather than wait until it is too late. I say this out of genuine concern.
